Research Internship Activities

  • Observation of mentors in action
  • Research participation and training with research/practice mentors
  • Participation and attendance to research meetings as well as research seminars/conferences
  • First-hand experience on data collection using surveys, laboratory and field experiments, experience sampling studies
  • Formulation of thesis/independent study projects with research mentors

Research Internship Details

  • Non-credit-bearing
  • At least 8 hours per week for about 4 months with a minimum of 150 hours to complete the internship
  • A stipend of $55 per hour for data collection and field work if applicable
  • Internship period: Winter 2025 semester (can be extended if applicable)  
  • A total of 10 interns in the intake

Intern Selection HKSYU students

  • Current undergraduate Year 2-3 students at HKSYU
  • Academic excellence with a minimum of 3.0 in overall cumulative GPA scores
  • Good English and/or Chinese writing and speaking skills
  • Good quantitative or qualitative research background and skills e.g. SPSS, NVivo etc.
  • Responsible and able to work independently
  • Able to work with a team of professionals from different disciplines
  • Satisfactory performance in selection interview

Deliverables

  • To assist in research projects and publish results at the end of the internship
  • To assist in practice projects
  • An internship attendance letter will be issued after submission of the activity logbook and internship report Interns who have successfully completed the internship will receive letters of completion/recommendations from the mentors
