Summary

It is now widely acknowledged that programme evaluation benefits from the use of multiple methods, and mixed methods approaches are increasingly integrated in evaluation design. In this session, we will explore the use of mixed methods in programme evaluation, with a particular focus on social policy interventions. We will discuss conceptual foundations of mixed methods approaches, its use in programme evaluation and applications of mixed methods approaches in programme evaluation in low- and middle-income countries. 

About the Presenter

Dr Keetie Roelen is a Research Fellow and Co-Director for the Centre of Social Protection at the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) in Brighton, UK. She is a development economist by training and current research interests include the dynamics of (child) poverty and social protection, with a particular focus on the interplay between social protection, dignity and shame. Keetie has quantitative and qualitative research skills, focusing primarily on mixed methods approach to research. She has worked with many international organisations such as UNICEF and Save the Children, performing research and policy advice work in Southern and Eastern Africa, Asia and Haiti.
